Regional vs Executive Offices
The distinction between these two office types matters more than it might first appear:
- Regional Passport Offices (RPOs) handle normal and urgent processing. They’re the standard office type, and most districts have one (a few, like Lahore and Karachi, have several).
- Executive Passport Offices (EPOs) additionally offer fast-track (about 2-day) processing at a higher fee, on top of normal and urgent options. They’re available in 47 cities nationwide as of DGIP’s latest expansion — not just the four largest metros, but also cities like Multan, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Abbottabad, and Muzaffarabad. If fast-track processing isn’t something you need, a Regional office is generally the more convenient option, since there are far more of them spread across the country. Whichever office you pick, double-check your required documents before you go — a missing document is the single most common reason for a wasted trip.
